Primary Function

Implements and monitors a variety of human resource programs. Anticipates and plans for human resource needs in partnership with business management. Requires performance of duties related to Equal Opportunity Employment, maintaining files, preparing correspondence, and ensuring compliance with hiring practices. Actively supports and upholds the Company's stated vision, mission and values.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates employee benefits, new hire orientation, records management, and other HR plans to ensure positive employee relations in keeping with company objectives
  • Manage all labor/union relations including grievances and disputes for assigned project/program
  • Participate in labor contract negotiations
  • Make recommendations, establish and implement management's policies regarding labor/union affairs
  • Liaises with operational staff to manage employees effectively and efficiently
  • Coordinate recruiting in conjunction with the Recruiting Department and Janus' hiring managers
  • Assists in the maintenance, development, and implementation of Janus' Human Resources Plan to include work instructions, forms, standard operating procedures, and training
  • Responsible for educating the workforce on all HR-related matters
  • Makes presentations and recommendations to the Vice President of HR regarding new or existing human resources policies
  • Reviews employee status changes to ensure fair and equitable application of compensation, human resources, and employee relations policies and practices
  • Provides guidance to managers and supervisor in the use and application of HR-related policies and procedures
  • Coordinates matters of legal compliance with the Vice President of HR

Job Requirements

  • College degree in Human Resources or related field preferred; equivalent relevant work experience acceptable
  • Previous HR experience in a union environment required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance preferred
  • At least five (5) years of experience in human resources
  • Advanced user level of computer systems, Microsoft Office softward (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), human resource information systems (HRIS), database applications, and document control systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to identify problems, suggest solutions and react to change with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to gain internal support and to operate independently without supervision
  • Ability to establish working relationships with customers, other companies, technical staff, managers, and peers
  • Must act with high ethical values and uphold corporate philosophy and confidentiality
  • Ability to work outside normal work hours including weekends with short notice when dictated by workload
  • Ability to routinely travel away from primary work location in excess of normal work day
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to pass a detailed background investigation
  • Must be able to function effectively in a normal office environment
