  • Primary Function

    Program level responsibility for geophysical aspects of the design, implementation, and management of all geophysical investigations required for work. Participates in day to day geophysical field activities, including data collection and processing. Actively supports and upholds the Company’s stated vision, mission and values.

    Essential Functions

    • Performs geophysical data collection and processing
    • Supervises all personnel and subcontractors during onsite MEC geophysical activities
    • Serves as a technical lead supporting project and technical managers on proposing, planning, and delivering MMRP geophysical related projects
    • Ensures geophysical standard operating procedures, work plans and government guidance are adhered to on projects
    • Maintains and updates Standard Operating Procedures under the guidance of the Technical Area Manager
    • Promotes the expansion of Janus' Geophysical Department’s capabilities
    • Performs administrative or logistical duties as may be assigned 
    • Provides training and establishes internal certification programs for geophysical personnel and equipment

    Job Requirements

    • Degree in geophysics, geology, geological engineering, or a closely related field required
    • Ability to communicate company practices with project managers, employees and clients
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience related to the geophysical mapping, detection and discrimination of buried military munitions
    • Must be familiar with the DoD Advanced Geophysical Classification Accreditation Program (DAGCAP) processes and technologies
    • Must be familiar with current federal and regulatory guidance for conducting geophysical surveys and anomaly reacquisition
    • Must be available to occasionally work outside the normal schedule when dictated by the needs of the company
    • Ability to travel to, and/or work in, an austere, hostile, or remote location.
    • Ability to travel away from a primary work location in excess of normal work day occasionally for several weeks to months at a time
    • Advanced user level of computer systems, Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), database applications, and documentation control systems
    • Must have experience collecting geophysical data with various configurations of electromagnetic instruments including, but not limited to, Geonics EM-61, TEMTADS, MetalMapper, as well as processing digital geophysical data using various Geospatial software and computer based models.
    • Must be familiar with Quality Control and Quality Assurance duties and procedures, with experience in non-conformance and corrective action documentation. 
    • Ability to manage multiple field teams and support daily operations, while ensuring all geophysical activities are in compliance with project specific documentation, and established quality metrics are met.
    • Understanding of geophysical principles and materials properties, with the ability to modify and fabricate proprietary equipment as needed by projects
    • Must be able to pass a detailed background investigation at a frequency as required by contract
    • If former military, must have received an honorable discharge
    • Must be able to meet the physical requirements dictated by project requirements
