  • Primary Function

    Develops and manages benefits policies, procedures, and programs, including retirement, medical, life, leave, and disability plans. Actively supports and upholds the Company's stated vision, mission, and values.

    Essential Functions

    • Ensures that all benefits plans are designed and administered in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations
    • Establishes and maintains working relationships with outside benefits consultants, administrators, brokers, and trustees in managing plans
    • Uses technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of policies and plans to resolve complex issues
    • Conducts audits of monthly bills and coordinates with Payroll to ensure appropriate deductions are withheld
    • Conducts briefings with employees to explain initial benefit offerings and important benefits changes
    • Briefs Director of HR and VP of HR on evolving benefits regulations and changes in laws in states in which Janus operates
    • Manages annual renewal and open enrollment processes with guidance from Director of HR and VP of HR
    • Maintains compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) including reports, distributions of required forms, and recordkeeping
    • Manages Janus’ Family Medical Leave Act policy and administers FMLA process
    • Manages Janus’ Reasonable Accommodation policy in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and counsels supervisors on implementation of policy
    • Works in conjunction with the Director of Medical Programs to manage Janus’ worker’s compensation programs (both CONUS and OCONUS)

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent relevant work experience
    • At least three (3) years of applicable experience
    • Intermediate user level of computer systems; Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook), database and documentation control systems
    • Ability to communicate company practices with senior executives and employees
    • Must be able to pass a detailed background investigation
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to identify problems, suggest solutions and react to change with a high degree of attention to detail
    • Ability to gain internal support and to operate independently without supervision
    • Ability to establish working relationships with customers, other companies, technical staff, managers and peers
    • Must act with high ethical values and uphold corporate philosophy and confidentiality
    • Ability to work outside normal work hours including weekends with short notice when dictated by work load
    • Ability to travel away from primary work location with little or no guidance
    • Ability to work on multiple pursuits simultaneously
    • Must be able to function effectively in an office environment
